Hello Reader, Over the summer, my kids made quilts and they got them back from the quilter a couple of weeks ago. Now that it's turned cooler, we're getting them bound so they can use them on their beds in the winter! Now that it's turned cooler, we're getting them bound so they can use them on their beds in the winter! All my quilty finds are related to quilt binding this week. I have tried ALL the thimble options out there, and once I found the Roxette Thimble, there was no looking back. It is sized, so if you don't have a quilt shop that carries them, I'd order at least two and then keep what fits best. Small, Medium, and Large here. We're doing big stitch binding (tutorial coming soon!) because it will go faster and looks pretty, so we're diving into my stash of Presencia Finca Perle Cotton Size #8, I have used this for everything from embrodiery to hand quilting for years, it's my favorite thread! My friend Deanna, The Log Cabin Quilter, got me hooked on the Bohin 3-in-1 Needle puller, so I got everyone one of those! It makes pulling the thicker thread through the binding so much easier! Whenever I do any hand sewing, I'm never without my favorite SewFine Thread Gloss! I have a variety of scents, but lean toward the fresh and fruity Pink Grapefruit and Satsuma. Lastly, because needles matter, I picked up some Tulip Embroidery needles in size 7, the thread fits through easy, but the eye isn't so big that it's hard to pull through or gets caught. Looking for the best way to store your binding supplies, I always use the tiny version of the Ada Drawstring Bucket! I've shared a bit about my hair troubles...but one other thing that's made a big difference for me is using a silk pillowcase. I grabbed these Spasilk pillowcases and love them! We are celebrating my littlest's birthday this weekend - how is she 12? Some of you may remember when she was born! - and she's a huge fan of bubble tea. We only have a couple of restaurants that serve bubble tea here, so we love getting this kit and making our own at home. --- If you're new here and want to see the previous Weekend Inspiration posts, I've shared them all here so you can catch up. We're getting ready for Trunk or Treat this weekend, our theme is Christmas Morning, so I'm off to wrap some presents and listen to Christmas music! Too early? I'm always glad for an excuse to kick off celebrating Christmas! Happy Sewing, |
