Quilty Weekend Inspiration [Issue 3]

Hello Reader,,

I'm glad you're loving this weekly inspiration!

I recently helped a friend choose a first sewing machine, in fact I've helped a lot of people choose a first sewing machine or a machine for their children, and my recommendation is always the same: Get an EverSewn. I have two and they sew beautifully. I'd choose a Celine or Charlotte.

I taught a lesson to the C&V Sewing Club on making a simple cork pouch and several people were wondering where to buy the rainbow cork I used. It's from Cork & Cloth and you can find it here.

At our local farmer's market I was suprised to see a knife and scissor sharpening booth. So, I took in my Gingher Scissors & Pinking Shears and they are amazing. I don't have a link to pass on (though if you're in Pittsburgh reply and I'll give you the name!), but I wanted to drop a note about it because I didn't know this was such an affordable option and my scissors are better than new!

I am releasing a video for the Back to School Sew Along on Monday about designing custom patchwork. 🎉🙌 I use this graph paper for my custom patchwork because I love the size of the squares, so I wanted to share in case you want to grab some before the video comes out!

My list it a little shorter this week as we've been hanging out extra at the pool, outside, and with some friends who are moving 😢. If I can pick your brain, what would you most want to receive as a handmade gift from a friend? I want to make something fun and practical as a going away gift!

That's all for this week, see you next week with another weekend inspiration note!

Happy Sewing,

Hello Reader, Over the summer, my kids made quilts and they got them back from the quilter a couple of weeks ago. Now that it's turned cooler, we're getting them bound so they can use them on their beds in the winter! Now that it's turned cooler, we're getting them bound so they can use them on their beds in the winter! All my quilty finds are related to quilt binding this week. I have tried ALL the thimble options out there, and once I found the Roxette Thimble, there was no looking back. It...

Hello Reader, Quilty Weekend Inspiration is back! When I started this weekend newsletter I was enjoying weekend mornings on the back deck and it seemed the perfect time to send you a little note. Fast forward to school starting and things have been a bit wild, but I'm back! This week's inspiration photo doubles as a quilty find! I LOVE making bias tape - weird, I know. But if that's not your thing, I discovered the most beautiful premade bias tape from Bessie Pearl Binding Co, read more...

Hello Reader, It's time for our weekend inspiration -- better late than never! Our inspiration photo for the week is my Simple Sampler quilt from the C&V Sewing Club - again! This is the 2024 version, but it took me too long to finally get it quilted and bound. We met friends at a park yesterday and tossed the quilts in to grab some photos...except we almost forgot, so we snapped this one really quick and I couldn't wait to share it! My friend Lynn is teaching a virtual course on creating a...
