Quilty Weekend Inspiration [Issue 7]

Hello Reader,

It's time for our weekend inspiration! We're enjoying some surprisngly cooler weather in the Pittsburgh area, this has given a lot of extra time for bike riding, taking walks, quilting, and hanging out outside.

Our inspiration photo for the week is my Simple Sampler quilt from the C&V Sewing Club. This was our 2022-23 version and I love how it turned out! You can read more about it here.

During the wrap up Show & Tell for the Back to School Sew Along I shared a Rae Pencil Case with the lace zipper and a few people were wondering where to find them. You can search lace zipper on Amazon or Etsy, I bought this cute pack from Missouri Star that I loved the colors and the cute zipper pulls with the star.

Another reason I shared the quilt above is to share my favorite Low Volume fabric with you, Stamped by Amy Sinibaldi from her very first fabric line, Papery. While I love a variety of low volume prints, this is the one I go back to over and over again (you may have spotted in in my Picking Berries Pincushion too!). 🤩

One thing I get asked about a lot is choosing colors for fabric. I'll be honest and say I most just pick what I feel looks good together. However, I learned to put names to those colors from the Quilter's Field Guide to Color by Rachel Hauser, this is one of the books I recommend ever quilter or color lover have on their shelf!

Now that cooler weather is on its way, I'm back to baking with my sourdough starter! Every weekend my husband and I make biscuits and gravy, and this is our favorite sourdough discard biscuit recipe!

I love being healthy, but I would not say I'm a health nut type of person. I'm more of a do your best most of the time, and please pass the Cheez-Its some days. 😉 However, I kept seeing ads for Armra Colostrum to help with hair loss and so I tried it...and it's a game changer! My poor ponytail was less than the size of a quarter, and now I have several inches of new growth (which is making for some awkard bangs 😂) and feel overall less sluggish and puffy. So, I had to pass it on to you! Obviously, not medical advice, do your own research, etc. Just sharing what's worked for me!

I have a thing for earrings...I'm not sure why and my ears are pierced funny so I'm so picky about what I choose. However, if you've ever watched a video I've created, I'm likely to be wearing these Full Moon Earrings from Balsamroot Jewelry. They're subtle and pretty and just long enough not to make my ears look weird! Bonus, they're a small business from the town my husband's family lives in, so win-win!

I don't have a reader find for you this week--do you have something you'd like to share? Please reply and send it over so I can feature you next week!

If you're new here and have missed an issue of weekend inspiration, I've shared them all here so you can catch up!

Happy Sewing,

Hello Reader, I'm sharing something a little different this weekend. Instead of some of my favorite sewing and quilting supplies, I want to share a few of my favorite quilty people, who have some things you don't want to miss! Here's a favorite photo from dinner at QuiltCon, where people really are the best part of attending! My friend Jo’s Beginner Quilt Class has just opened for enrollment! In the class students are guided step by step through making their first quilt. By the end of the...

of Hello Reader, QuiltCon was a couple weeks ago now. When people ask what QuiltCon is, I have to mention the shopping because one part is a highly curated gathering of shops! I had to keep my shopping small enough to fit in my carry-on bag, but I still managed to find some great things. Here are the links to all my QuiltCon buys: Our first stop on the first day was the Scanfil Thread. At QuiltCon in Phoenix, a few of us tried Scanfil thread and loved it so much that we made sure to head over...

Hello Reader, It's been a bit of a break since my last Quilty Weekend Inspiration, but I'm excited to be back! I've spent the last two weeks diving in to all the zipper pouches because of the Zipper Pouch Challenge, so I'm sharing all my favorites for making pretty pouches! I also wanted to remind you all, it's time to binge-watch the videos; they expire on Tuesday, February 10th! Make sure to download and save any PDF Patterns you want to keep to your computer. We loved sewing along with...
